Golf Source/Cure Putters Stroke Play Rescheduled

The Golf Source/Cure Putters Stroke Play - Club Car Series Event #2 has been postponed until Tuesday, May 5th at Pine Tree Country Club. Registration has been reopened and the deadline for entries will be Wednesday, April 29th at 5:00 pm CDT. The event will be a 9:00 am Shotgun Start. To register, CLICK HERE.

 

David Hanson Wins DPGA / PGA Tour Stroke Play, Club Car Series Event #1

David Hanson fired a 1-under par round of 71 to win the Dixie PGA's PGA Tour Sponsored Stroke Play Tournament, which is Event #1 of the Club Car/Jerry Pate Stroke Play Series. Hanson was the only player in the field that managed to fire a sub par round at Pensacola Country Club in Pensacola, Florida. Hanson’s hole out for eagle on the par 5, 14th helped to seal his one shot victory.

Chris Rigdon & Jon Gustin inducted into Dixie Section PGA Hall of Fame

On Monday, February 9, 2015, the Dixie Section PGA inducted Chris Rigdon and Jon Gustin in the Section’s Hall of Fame.  The Hall of Fame has two divisions, the Modern Division which Rigdon becomes a member of and the Legends Division which elected Gustin.

Chris Rigdon is the current PGA Head Golf Professional/Owner of Trussville Country Club.  Rigdon has served as Trussville CC’s head golf professional since 1979.  During his career, Chris has been a tremendous promoter of the game of golf.  He has been an active participant in Section events through the years, now competing in the Senior Divisions of our tournaments.

In 2013, Rigdon received the Dixie PGA’s Junior Golf Leader award.  Chris has always had a passion for helping develop young golfers and has had many talented players come out of his junior programs.  The award recognizing Chris in 2013 was long overdue.

Jon Gustin was the PGA Head Golf Professional at the Country Club of Birmingham from 1965-1987.  Gustin accepted the position at CC of Birmingham after competing on the PGA Tour for 12 years.  In his position at CC of Birmingham, Gustin instructed several talented players including Hubert Green.  Mr. Gustin passed away in 1994, at the age of 61.

The criteria for election in the Dixie PGA Hall of Fame includes:

Individuals that have excelled in at least three of the following categories:

  1. Playing ability
  2. Business development at the club level
  3. Teaching ability
  4. Professional and educational development at the club level
  5. Professional development at the Section or National level
  6. Service to the Dixie Section
  7. Local community service
